Grand Duke Kirill is in Japan

July 3, 1902

Grand Duke Kirill of Russia has arrived in Japan, where he has received an "imposing reception," according to a New York Times dispatch. Tokyo newspapers are "discussing the significance" of the Grand Duke's visit, and the editorials insist that Russia and the allied powers, Great Britain and Japan, share common interests, namely, "the preservation of peace and the promotion of commerce in the Orient."  The newspapers have also noted that Russia and Japan have common interests in commerce and industry.
