Count Carl Johan was born October 31, 1916. Several years ago, I had the honor of being invited to lunch by the Count and his wife Gunila. A charming couple.
Count Carl Johan was the last surviving great-grandchild of Queen Victoria. He was the uncle of both King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
Now that all the great-grandchildren have passed, any idea who are the oldest and youngest surviving great-great grandchildren of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert?
ReplyDeleteWho is the oldest of Queen Victoria's surviving descendants now? There must be hundreds at the gg-grandchild level, but if anyone would know the answer, you would!
ReplyDeleteThe eldest great-grandchild is HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1921), and the youngest is Elizabeth Ramsay (1963)
ReplyDeleteFrom the pictures you posted of Crown Princess Margaret, you definitely see some strong genes that she passed down to her descendants. Those full cheeks remind me a lot of her great-grandaughters Alexia & Theodora. Not to mention Queen Anne-Marie bears a striking resemblance as well.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone from the British Royal family attend the funeral?
ReplyDeleteNo one from the British royal family attended the funeral. He was the son of a British princess who died in 1920! He didn't have close ties to anyone in the BRF.
