Royal Death: Alexander of Prussia


































January 4, 1896

Prince Alexander of Prussia died today at the age of seventy-five, reports the New York Times.  He had been ill for some time.

Prince Alexander was the son of Prince Friedrich of Prussia and Princess Luise of Anhalt.  He was born in Berlin on June 21, 1820.  The prince served as Chief of the Third Westphalia Infantry Regiment, Chief of the Second Regiment of Grenadiers of the Guard in the Landwehr, and a Knight of the Black Eagle.

Prince Alexander never married.  He is survived by his younger brother, Prince Georg.

The German Emperor and Empress were at his bedside when he died shortly before eleven in the morning.
He was also the General of Infantry in the Prussian army.
