Ileana, a "democratic" Princess

January 2, 1926

Princess Ileana, the youngest daughter of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie of Romania, is known as "Europe's most democratic princess," reports the Associated Press.

She recently completed "her schooling at Ascot, England, and will shortly make her debut in society."

Princess Ileana is enjoys outdoor sports, and "at school took likely interest in the affairs of the college."  When she first arrived, she made it clear that she did not want special treatment.

"Because I am a Princess, I do not want any favors."  When she received invitations from girlfriends to tea or parties during the school year, she would reply: "I'd love to join them, but I only have one hour off, and that is on Sunday."
