Prince Louis Ferdinand found living quietly in Bad Kissingen

June 7, 1945

Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia, who might have been the German Emperor "if two wars had not scrambled his destiny," has been found living quietly in Bad Kissingen, according to the Associated Press.

Prince Louis Ferdinand, the second son of Crown Prince Wilhelm, his wife,  Kira, a Grand Duchess of Russia, and their five children, are living at the home of Dr. Sautler, a physician who treated the late Kaiser Wilhelm II.

The prince told the reporter that all of his family's properties, except for "one broken-down castle" are now in Russian hands.  All are located east of the Elbe river.

He "prudently" got his wife, Kira, and their children out of East Prussia before the Russians broke through the lines.
