If you were planning to have your wedding reception at the Fürstenhaus at Herrenhausen in Hannover after June 30, you will need to find another site as Prince Ernst August of Hanover, elder son of Prince Ernst August and his first wife, Chantal Hochuli, will be moving into the palace in July. This means that the palace will no longer be available for banquets, receptions, and parties.
The early 18th-century mansion, which was restored by King Georg V of Hannover between 1864 and 1865, has been leased in recent years for different events, including wedding receptions. Prince Ernst August, who has been running the family business since 2004, needs a base in Hanover. Earlier this year, he put up for sale Schloss Calenberg in Pattensen, which had been the main family home. He also owns Schloss Marienburg, which is open to the public.
Prince Ernst August, 27, lives primarily in London, where he works as an investment banker. According to a family spokesman, Mauritz von Reden, the prince "does not see himself as a person in public life, and wants to live privately in Hannover."
