A new claimant for Georgia

http://georgianroyalhouse.jimdo.com/

Prince Nuzgar is now claiming to be the head of the Royal House of Georgia.  Nuzgar is a descendant of the last kings of Georgia, but in a junior line.  This puts Nuzgar and his family in direct competition with the genealogically superior branch, Bagration-Mukhrani, although Nuzgar's branch, the Bagration-Gruzinskis, descend from the last king of Georgia.

The Georgian monarchy ended in 1800, when it was absorbed into Russia.

Nuzgar, a well-known stage and film director, has lived in Georgia all his life.  In February 2009, his daughter, Anna, married Prince David Bagration-Mukhrani, in an Orthodox ceremony in Tbilisi.  The marriage has not been a success.   He is the only member of his branch of the family to acquire Georgian nationality, and is seen by many as the head of the house, and heir to the non-existent throne.
The marriage between the divorced mother of two and Prince David, who was raised in Spain, was seen as a way of bringing together the two families.

Although it has never been confirmed, it is understood that David and Anna are divorced, and living separate lives in Georgia.  The couple did not have any children.

Prince David's website still features a photo of the married couple.  http://www.royalhouseofgeorgia.ge/home

Perhaps one can assume that Prince Nuzgar's now public declaration means "don't ever mess with my daughter again!"

  2. interesting... i know nothing about this family, i'll check out their website!

i've got yet another question for you. :-D

correct me if i'm wrong, but as i remember it, in the UK any GREAT-grandchildren of the monarch aren't entitled to the HRH (unless, i suppose, they get it through the marriage of the monarch's grandchild to someone with that title to pass on) EXCEPT for the eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales.

if this is actually the case, is it known whether the Queen is going to grant ALL of William & Kate's children the HRH Prince(ss)?

  3. Thanks TJ .. should have been puts ... s z what's the difference.

Michelle, according to the 1917 Letters patent, children of the sovereign and grandchildren in the male line are HRH and Prince and Princess .. and the eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales. So if William and Kate have three daughters during the queen's lifetime, all three will be lady name Mountbatten-Windsor unless the queen issues a decree or a new LP
