More Rumors about Alfonso and Patricia

April 8, 1905

The Chicago Daily Tribune reports that the engagement of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and Princess Patricia of Connaught, "although not officially announced, appears to be accepted as fact."    The difficulties, due to religion, have been overcome:  sons will be raised as Roman Catholics and daughters as Protestants.

Princess Patricia, the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, is described as "tall and slight, with a fresh English complexion and light brown hair, with dark eyebrows and eyelashes, which give much expression to her blue eyes."   Both the princess and her older sister, Princess Margaret, who will marry Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden in June,  are "good riders and fond of outdoor sports."
