It was reported today in the Norwegian newspapers, based on comments from the Press Office, that King Harald and Queen Sonja will be attending the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton on April 29. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess did not receive an invitation.
It seems likely that the Lord Chamberlain sent invitations solely to the Sovereigns and their consorts, but not also to the heirs and their spouses. The invitations were sent in the Queen's name, and not from the Prince of Wales.
Thus, the official representation may be limited to the Sovereigns and consorts, unless the Sovereign cannot attend and the Heir Apparent is designated to attend the wedding as the official representation.
Here in the US, there will be plenty of channels to watch the wedding! But do not expect coverage of the wedding breakfast, the dinner or the dancing. These events, as always, will be private.
