Former German Empress Auguste Viktoria was informed today of the recent death of her brother, Duke Ernst Gunther of Schleswig-Holstein. The news caused the empress to suffer another heart attack. Due to her frail condition, her doctors "considered her condition at the time of the Duke's death, late in February, too serious" to allow her to be told, reported the New York Times.
