Former King Alfonso XIII of Spain's wedding present to his future daughter-in-law, Emanuela de Dampierre is one-fifth of his mother's jewels. Donna Emanuela will wear "part of these heirlooms with her wedding ensemble." One "especially famous piece, the fleur-de-lis diamonds," will be used by the bride to "clasp her white lace wedding down, according to the Associated Press.
She will wear on her breast "the emerald and gold pontifical cross of Pope Pius IX, containing as a holy relic a piece said to be from the crown of thorns."
Earlier today, the bride had a final fitting of her wedding gown, which is made of white and silver lamé. She will have a "majestic train, more than seven yards long." The train will be carried by 10 little girls, "all of noble blood, dressed in silver and blue with red roses in her hair."
Donna Emanuela, a granddaughter of the former Josephine Curtis of Boston, and Don Jaime, second son of King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia, will be married on Monday in Rome.
