Queen Louise is buried

October 14, 1898

The remains of the late Queen Louise of Denmark was "borne today to the funeral car" by the King of Denmark, the Czar of Russia, the King of Greece, the Crown Prince of Denmark and other members of the royal family.  This procession followed a "mourning service in the death chamber."
The funeral cortege made its way to the railroad station, with members of the royal family following on foot.  The route was "lined by dense crowds of bare-headed people."
The train with the coffin on board pulled out of the station at 5 p.m., for Roskilde, nineteen miles from Copenhagen, which is the burial place for Danish kings and queens since the middle ages.
Thousands of people were in Roskilde awaiting the arrival of the funeral train.  The King of Denmark and his three daughters, the Princess of Wales, the Dowager Empress of Russia and the Duchess of Cumberland, walked behind the hearse.
