Queen Emma hurt in car accident

May 11, 1906

The Dowager Queen Emma of the Netherlands, the mother of Queem Wilhelmina, was "thrown from an automobile to-day," at Steinfurt, Westphalia, the New York Times reports. The Queen was attending the silver wedding celebrations of the Prince and Princess of Bentheim-Steinfurt.
The car hit a butcher's wagon, and Queen Emma and the Prince of Bentheim-Steinfurt were thrown out. Queen Emma sustained some bruises, but she resumed her ride.
