Edward Leigh re-elected as Gainsborough MP
Edward Leigh was reelected to Parliament as the Member for Gainsborough. A member of the Conservative Party, Edward Leigh was first elected in 1983. A year later, Leigh married Mary Goodman.
The couple have six children, Natalia, Tamara, Benedict, Marina, Nicholas and Theodore.
Leigh is a descendant of Henry VII through Lady Eleanor Brandon, third daughter of Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, and Mary Tudor, younger daughter of Henry VII. His wife, Mary Goodman, daughter of Philip Russell Goodman and Countess Sophie Kleinmichel, who was the daughter of Count Vladimir Kleinmichel and Countess Marie von Carlow.
Countess Marie was the daughter of Duke Georg Alexander of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and his morganatic wife, Nataliya Feodorovna Vanljarskya. This is a Romanov line of descent as Georg Alexander's parents were Duke Georg of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and Grand Duchess Elizabeth Mikhailovna of Russia.
