George V certainly had a strong resemblance to his first cousin Nicholas 11. Was Irene and Henry's marriage a love match or a dynastic marriage? I can't remember my source but I have read that he was abusive to her.
well as i know is, that they was very much in love! if you see the old pictures, where they were in their teens than you see how much in love they was.
I've read that Henry had an explosive temper, similar, perhaps, to that of his brother, Kaiser Wilhelm. I remember reading also that Henry may have had a crush on a rich American at one time, but that he seemed too shy and gauche to be able to act on it. He loved to drive the new automobiles, and it seems he may have been an inarticulate man who preferred tinkering with mechanical devices to interacting with the female sex.
Im surprised that no one really talks about how much Prince Henry looked like his first cousin, the future George V.
ReplyDeleteRegards and happy new year!
