Zita seen as matchmaker for Otto

September 4, 1929

Former Empress Zita has moved to Belgium for her children's education, according to the Associated Press, but is also said to be "responsible for the rumor of the proposed marriage" of her son, Archduke Otto, and Princess Marie José, the only daughter of King Albert and Queen Elisabeth.
Although the Pope is said to favor such a marriage, the royal palace in Brussels has considered the report to be "one of the periodical rumors regarding marriage plans for the Princess and is not considered worth denying formally."
It was announced last week that Zita, who has lived in Spain with her family as guests of King Alfonso XIII, would move to Louvain, Belgium, so Archduke Otto could enter the university there with his brother.
