Thieves broken in Count von Hardenberg's Darmstadt home last night, and stole documents pertaining to the Grand Duchess Anastasia case. The count was badly injured by his attackers, but it is believed that he will recover. He had tried to prevent the thieves from breaking into his safe.
The woman, Anna Tschaikovsky, who is at the center of this case, is currently living in the United States with Xenia Leeds, who was born a Princess of Russia, and spent her childhood with the grand duchess.
It was three years ago when Mrs. Tschaikovsky emerged from a Berlin canal and put in a sanatorium, where stories began to emerge about her true identity. Many believed that she is Nicholas II's youngest daughter, Anastasia, who survived the Bolshevik slaughter on her family.
Count von Hardenberg has been an vocal opponent to Anna's claims, and it is believed that his safe contained documents concerning her true identity. Police believe they know who the thieves are, but no arrests have been made.
