Mafalda and Giovanna out of danger

September 15, 1923,

Princess Mafalda and Giovanna of Savoy, who are the second and third daughters of King Vittorio Emanuele, are both still ill with a high fever, but are now out of danger. It has been suggested that both princesses are suffering from thyphoid fever. Because of this, it is believed that their brother, Umberto's engagement to Princess Marie José of Italy, would have been announced today during celebrations for Umberto's nineteenth birthday.
