: Technicality : Andrew is still the Duke of York
This means Parliament will take no legislative action to remove Andrew's peerages. The peerage will become extinct on his death ...unless he remarries and has a son.
If Andrew dies without male issue, the title reverts to the Crown ... just as it reverted to the Crown when George V and George VI succeeded to the thrones - and when Frederick duke of York died ....
It would be quite odd, if Andrew were to re-marry and the new spouses won't be able to style her self, HRH and Duchess of York. Though, if they have a son, (naturally not through a surrogate) the son succeeds Andrew as the Duke of York.
Sorry, American ignorance showing here. Does this mean there will be no future Duke of York?
