Silver Wedding Anniversary for Lord and Lady Snowdon
It has been 25 years since I stood in the small park across the street from St. Margaret's, Westminster, in London for the marriage of Viscount Linley to the Lady Serena Stanhope.
At the time of the wedding, Serena was styled as Honourable Serena Stanhope as her grandfather, the Earl of Harrington, was still alive.
David Linley, a talent furniture designer, is the elder child of HRH The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon (1930-2002) and The Earl of Snowdon (1930-2017). Serena, the daughter of the then Viscount Petersham and his first wife, Virginia Freeman-Jackson.
At the time of the wedding, Serena, then 23 years old, was styled as the Hon. Serena Stanhope. Her grandfather, the 10th Earl of Harrington, was still alive. He died in 2009 and was succeeded by Serena's father, William, as the 11th Earl. Although already married at the time of her grandfather's death, Serena pre-marital courtesy title changed to that of an earl's daughter.
The bride wore the Lotus Flower tiara, loaned by Princess Margaret.
The news of their romance broke in early 1993 shortly before the couple jetted off to Monaco, where Serena's mother lived, for a sunshine-filled holiday.
The engagement was announced on May 3, 1993.
More than 650 guests were invited to the wedding, described as the "society wedding of the year. The Queen and the Queen Mother led the list of royal guests, which included King Constantine II and Queen Anne Marie of the Hellenes, the Princess Royal and her children, Prince Edward, the Princess of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra and her son and daughter-in-law, James and Julia Ogilvy, Tim and Lady Helen Taylor.
Bruce Robbins, then only 28 years old, designed Serena's dress. The outfits worn by her attendants were designed by Robinson Valentine.
The youngest page was Serena's cousin, 4-year-old Master Octavius MacEwen. the other pages and bridesmaids were 5-year-old Cosima Vesey, daughter of Viscount de Vesey, the groom's paternal first cousin, Lord Glamis, the son of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's nephew, the Earl of Strathmore, Master Hal Messel, Lord Snowdon's second cousin, Chloe Delevigne, 9, granddaughter of Princess Margaret's lady-in-waiting, Mrs. Jane Stevens and Lord Linley's 13-year-old half-sister, Lady Frances Armstrong-Jones.
The newlyweds emerged from the church and got into a 1911 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost for the drive to St. James's Palace for their reception. The Princess of Wales did not attend the reception.
There were several notable absences including two of the groom's maternal cousins, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of York. The Prince of Wales was in Turkey on an official trip. His younger brother, Andrew, was on "naval duty in Gibraltar." The Duke's estranged wife, Sarah, did not attend.
The Duke of Edinburgh was in Gladstone, New Jersey, for a carriage driving event.
This link includes photos I took of David and Serena at their wedding (no zoom lens and other photos of them from the 1990s.

More information on Eugenie's wedding
From Buckingham Palace
"An update on the wedding of Princess Eugenie of York and Mr Jack Brooksbank
Her Royal Highness Princess of Eugenie of York and Mr Jack Brooksbank are pleased to confirm some further details about their upcoming Wedding Day.
Wedding Service
The Archbishop of York, The Most Revd. and Rt. Hon. John Sentamu, has written a personal prayer for the Wedding Service of Princess Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank, which will be included in the Order of Service.
The Dean of Windsor, The Rt. Revd. David Conner will give the Address at their Wedding. The Dean will also officiate as the couple make their marriage vows.
James Vivian, Director of Music St George’s Chapel, has written descants for two hymns that will be sung during the Service.
Musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) will perform during the ceremony. The couple have very much enjoyed working together with the RPO’s Managing Director, James Williams, to choose the accompaniment to the Service. The Duke of York is Patron of the RPO.
James Williams said: "It has been a great pleasure to work with HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank to plan the music for their special day and we wish the couple much happiness for their future together."
The internationally renowned singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli will perform two pieces during the Service.
Military involvement
State Trumpeters from the Band of the Household Cavalry will perform a fanfare during the Service, written especially for the occasion by the Commanding Officer of the Bands of the Household Division, Lieutenant Colonel Darren Wolfendale.
Members of Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards, of which The Duke of York is Colonel, will line the West Steps of St George’s Chapel as the couple depart after the Wedding ceremony. Pipers from the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland will perform Scottish pieces from the Garter Tower as the Bride and Groom depart in the Carriage Procession.
The Household Division's involvement in the Wedding also reflects Mr Brooksbank’s family history, as his great Grandfather, Sir Jack Coke, was an officer in the Scots Guards.
Royal Wedding Cake
Princess Eugenie of York and Mr Brooksbank have asked London based cake designer Sophie Cabot to make their wedding cake.
The red velvet and chocolate cake will be a traditional cake, with a modern feel. It will incorporate the rich colours of autumn in its design and will be covered with detailed sugar work including ivy.
Sophie Cabot started her bespoke cake design business in 2014 having grown up with a love of baking and learning her skills from her grandmother and mother.
Sophie came to the attention of the couple through her involvement with The Duke of York’s Pitch@Palace programme, where she supplied specially decorated bespoke biscuits.
The couple are delighted that Miss Cabot can be involved in the celebrations for their special day.
Originally a costume designer, Sophie’s artistic skills and flair come through in her creations, with a particular love for making sugar-flowers and using her hand-painting skills to create unique cakes.
Sophie Cabot said: “I am incredibly excited to be given this wonderful opportunity to create such a special and unique cake. It has been lovely working with Princess Eugenie and Jack and I really hope they enjoy the cake on the day.” "

The Sussexes visit Sussex
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Sussex earlier today with the first stop in Chichester. A special thank you to one of my Twitter friends, West Sussex-resident Jen, who uses the Twitter handle Lady Sassington, who allowed me to use her photos. She went to Chichester today with her husband, to await the arrival of the the Duke and Duchess, who were making their first visit to the eponymous county. They visited Chichester, Bognor Regis and Brighton.
Jen and her husband arrived at 8:40 in the morning and positioned themselves across from Edes House, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got to see a rare copy of the American Declaration of Independence. The royal couple arrived at 10:50 for a walkabout that lasted until 11:10. The royal couple went inside Edes House for a tour, and then left 20 minutes later.
This was the first time that Jen has met a member of the British royal family.
For more details about Jen's awesome day, check out her comments in Hello. https://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2018100363042/meghan-markle-reaction-after-fan-praises-doria-ragland/
So happy for her that she had a most excellent day. She told me the weather "was cold but sunny, great for October. Only a handful when we arrived but filled up after 9 a.m.."
She presented the couple with a bouquet of flowers and a notebook, and told the Duchess that she loves Meghan's mom, Dora Ragland ... and who doesn't love Meghan's mom!!! She raised a terrific and confident woman.

What it means to be a working royal
I recently spoke to Town & Country magazine about Princess Eugenie and working royals. Princess Eugenie will marry Jack Brooksbank at St. George's Chapel on October 12. ITV has announced that they will televise the wedding in the United Kingdom. So far, no announcements about foreign networks purchasing rights to ITV's feed.
UPDATE: PRINCESS EUGENIE'S WEDDING WILL BE ON US TELEVISION. TLC has purchased US rights

Princess Patricia to marry Manoel of Portugal
October 2, 1908
Princess Patricia of Connaught, said to be the "prettiest girl in the British Royal Family," is to marry the young King Manoel of Portugal, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The official announcement of their betrothal will be made at a dinner party later this month.
The princess, who is the youngest of three children of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, was revealed to be studying the Roman Catholic faith, as she prepares to be be "baptized in that faith." She will be required to renounced her "Protestant affiliations" before her marriage.
She will be the second granddaughter of Queen Victoria to change her faith for the sake of a crown. Her first cousin, Victoria Eugenia, is the Queen of Spain, the consort of Alfonso XIII.
Manoel's mother, Queen Amalia, is said to be pleased at the news of her son's marriage. She was "greatly disturbed" when Manoel "rebelled at the idea of a state marriage," as he wanted to marry his "sweetheart, the daughter of a Portuguese nobleman." The young woman was "requested" to leave Portugal, before Manoel made "the acquaintances with the charms of the beautiful Patricia." He is now on board with the idea of a state marriage.
King Edward VII has consented to the proposed marriage.
Princess Patricia has turned several proposals, the most recent from the Count of Turin. She has also been linked with the Marquess of Anglesey, King Alfonso XIII, before he married her first cousin, Grand Duke Michael of Russia and Prince Friedrich Eitel of Prussia.

The religious wedding of Nicholas and Alina de Roumanie
Nicholas and Alina-Maria de Roumanie were married earlier today at Biserica Sfantul Ilie at Sinaia according to the rites of the Romanian Orthodox ceremony. The officiant was Archbishop Calinic of Arges and Muscel. The couple's civil ceremony took place last October in Henley-on-Thames.
The only member of the Nicholas' family to attend the wedding was his younger sister, Karina.
Although the Duke of Vendome was expected to attend the wedding, he was not in the cathedral. It is understood that his wife, Philomena, is expecting a child in the not-too-distant future.
Princess Eleonore of Schaumburg-Lippe, the daughter of Prince Waldemar of Schaumburg-Lippe and his first wife, Anne-Lise Johansen, was the only royal guest.
The reception was held at the Casino Sinaia.
This was the first royal wedding in Sinaia since 1931 when Nicholas' great-great-aunt Princess Ileana of Romania married Archduke Anton of Austria.
The first two photos were taken by a friend of a friend of mine who was at the wedding.
It must be noted that the area around the cathedral and the Casino Sinaia were lined with people offering good wishes and a lot of cheers for the couple.

Countess Anna Theresa of Arco-Zinneberg marries Colin McKenzie
Countess Anna Theresa of Arco-Zinneberg married Colin McKenzie in a Roman Catholic ceremony on Saturday at Niederaltaich Abbey, near Deggendorf in Bavaria.
The 36-year-old bride is the eldest of six daughters of Count Riprand of Arco-Zinneberg and Archduchess Maria Beatrice of Austria, daughter of the late Archduke Robert of Austria and Princess Margherita of Savoy-Aosta.
The bride was raised in the United States where her father has worked in investing and managing real estate. He founded the American Asset Corporation (AAC), "a real estate investment and development company" headquartered in New York City. Count Riprand also is a majority interest holder in "farming, forest products, brewery, and real estate companies" in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.

She received an MBA from the London School of Economics in 2015.
The reception was held at Schloss Moos, the bride's family home. The castle belonged to the von Preysing family for nearly 400 years. The last von Preysing to own the castle was Count Kaspar von Preysing-Lichtenberg-Moos, a grandson of King Ludwig III of Bavaria. He died in 1940 at the age of 21. The estate passed to his sister, Countess Theresia von Preysing-Lichtenegg-Moos, who married in 1941 to Count Ludwig of Arco-Zinneberg. Count Riprand is their son.

The family owns Arcobräu at Moos. Count Riprand stated in an earlier interview that Countess Anna Theresa will inherit Schloss Moos. She already works for the brewery and for GAM, a real estate firm.
New York-born Colin McKenzie was born in 1976. He grew up in Spain, Brazil and in England and is the head of research for CROCI - Systematic Equity Investments, Deutsche Asset Management. He received an MA in Mathematics with Philosophy from the University of Oxford in 1998.
The guests include the bride's Uncle Archduke Lorenz of Austria and his wife, Princess Astrid of Belgium, Count and Countess Rodolphe of Limburg-Stirum (Archduchess Marie Christine of Austria), Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg and the Hereditary Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. Prince Nikolaus and Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein with their son, Prince Josef, the Hereditary Prince and Princess of Leiningen.
Prince Jean-Christophe Napoleon was also a guest, presumably still the partner of Anna Theresa's sister, Countess Olympia.
The witnesses for the bride were Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Princess Adelheid of Liechtenstein and the Hereditary Prince of Leiningen. Mr. McKenzie's witnesses were the Hon. Maxwell Aitken, the Hon. Hugh Chisholm and Prince Kahlid bin Bandar al Saud.
