Prince Stefan of Serbia, the nine-month-old son, of Prince Philip and Princess Danica, was baptized today at the Royal Chapel of St. Andrew the First.  The Chapel is located in Royal Compound at Dedinje, Belgrade.

The little prince was carried into the service by his mother, Princess Danica. He was dressed in the same christening gown worn by his great-grandfather, King Peter II at his baptism in 1923.  The late king's godfather was the Duke of York, later King George VI.

The baby's godparents are Prince Philip's twin brother, Prince Alexander, Mrs. Petra Lazarevic and Mr. Dusan Antunovic.

The Patriarch Irinej of Serbia was joined by Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac as officiants at the baptism.  Bishop Lavrentije was the officiant at the religious wedding of Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine in 1985.   He also baptized all three of the Crown Prince's sons.

The guests at the baptism included a beaming Grandfather, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine,  Prince Philip's mother, Princess Maria da  Gloria of Orleans and Braganca, Duchess of Segorbe,  Princess Danica's parents, Beba and Cile Markinovic,  HRH The Dowager Duchess of Calabria (Prince Philip's godmother), Prince Alexander of Serbia (the godfather), Prince Michael of Serbia (son of the late Prince Tomislav)  Mrs. Maja Gojkovic, President of the National Assembly of Serbia and members of Crown Princess Katherine's family.

A reception in the palace followed the baptism.  Crown Prince Alexander opened an exhibit "Royal Celebrations," of photographs of royal events in Serbia: the coronation of King Peter I, the marriage of King Alexander and Princess Marie of Romania, the baptisms of King Peter II, Crown Prince Alexander, Hereditary Prince Peter, Princes Philip and Alexander,  the wedding of King Peter II and Princess Alexandra of Greece, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine.

Prince Stefan was born on February 25 in Belgrade.   After the baptism he received the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the Karadjordje Star(1st class), the highest decoration in Royal House.
