New Romanian Prime Minister meets with Margareta

@Daniel Angelescu

On Friday, February 23,  the new Romanian Prime Minister Mrs. Viorica Dancila joined HM Margareta and HRH Prince Radu for lunch at the Elisabeta Palace.

This was the first meeting between the new Prime Minister and HM Margareta.

According to the Romanian Royal Family's website "Her Majesty and the Prime Minister discussed topics relating to the public activities of the Royal Family to promote and support the Romanian presidency of the Council of the European Union, from January to June 2019; the continuation of numerous projects and events dedicated to the centennial years of 1918 and 1919; relations with the Republic of Moldova,as well as economic and diplomatic relations with countries outside the European continent."

Can I ask you something as you are an expert: what do you think about the decision of the Head of the Romanian Royal Family to be styled Her Majesty Margareta? I always thought that the style or the form of address comes from the title, but Custodian of the Crown is no royal title. To me this decision seems very strange and i recall that when King Carol II of Romania wanted to style his estranged wife: "Her Majesty Helen", she rejected this proposal, saying that a royal style is incomplete without the proper title. For me it would make more sense if she would be Her Majesty the Queen of Romania or Her Majesty Queen Margareta or to stay as HRH The Crown Princess, Custodian of the Crown.
I wish to express my gratitude to you and work you've so wonderfully done so far and to mention that i am a constant reader of you blog.

Best regards,

I have no comment. The 2007 Family states she becomes queen, but that is difficult as Romania is not a monarchy ... I think this title is a compromise --but it is a decision that Margareta made and that is how she chooses to be styled.
