Nicholas Medforth-Mills will attend King Michael's funeral

@ Monarhia salvează România

Earlier this week, Nicholas Medforth-Mills, the estranged grandson of the late King Michael of Romania. will be attending the state funeral, his lawyer has confirmed.

Earlier this week,  Nicholas sent a letter to the Royal house requesting that he be able to attend the funeral as a family member.  His lawyer, Radu Enache, said that Nicholas had not received a response as of Thursday.  The lack of response led to Nicholas stating that he would attend the funeral as a private citizen.

Earlier today, Traian Sirca, an official of the Royal House, sent a response to Mr. Enache.     Mr. Medforth-Mills  will have an official place at the funeral. He will be accompanied by his fiancee, Alina-Maria Binder.

Mr. Sirca will be the intermediary between the Royal House and Nicholas Medforth-Mills, who will remain in the country and will participate in the funeral events.

Good. Let's hope this will be the first step towards reconciliation.

It is quite unfortunate that an intermediary is required to communicate between the Royal House and the former (and still popular) representative of its very future.

I am glad that Nicholas will have Alina by his side as he goes to this sad event.

The Royal House disgraces itself by its actions in this regard.

We all await for the Crown Princess announcements after the period of mourning.. Nick might be out of order still. Personally I find Nick quite arrogant and not grounded, as his grandfather saw and made a judgement which would stick long after his death.

The Romanian Crown needs a heir. Princess Margareta should rethink if it is correct Mr. Medforh-Mills isn't anymore a prince of Romania.

Juan, Nicholas was stripped of his title and his place in the succession in August 2015. He is estranged from the royal family, including his mother.

I know it, so now is his mother the new heiress to the Romanian Crown and after her his sister Elisabeta?

There is no change to the succession . Helen was second, Nicholas third but being groomed to be eventual heir. So now, Karina is second in line but is unlikely to take on a role.

The Royal family's treatment of Nicholae really makes me angry. They had a well-educated, dedicated and what I understand popular heir, and then just deprive him of the title and future. The reason now seems to be confirmed to be a child out of wedlock, as if he would be the only heir to a throne who had done such a thing. If it was a decision by King Mihai it must be that it reminded him too much of his father's behaviour. I suspect though that there is a power struggle going on in the family. And the family cannot but lose in the end, since there is no other heir who is trained and willing to take the role.
I hope Nicholae will be strong and prove that he is the rightful heir to the Romanian throne. The coming marriage will be a great first step back to the position.

I think almost the same. Having a child out of wedlock in the 21st century isn't a big problem. The Prince of Monaco had two and wasn't stripped of his title and his place in the succession.
