Princess Mary, the Princess Royal, was underwent an appendectomy today at her Mayfair home in London. A bulletin was issued by the Princess' five physicians saying "she was doing well so far," reports the New York Times.
Lord Dawson of Penn was driven to Buckingham Palace to inform King George V and Queen Mary "of the result of the operation.
The operation came as a surprise for the 36-year-old Princess Mary, married to the Earl of Harewood, although it had been known that she "has suffered from the strain of public engagements last summer."
