Nicholas and Wilhelm meet

November 4, 1903

Nicholas II of Russia, accompanied by Prince Henry of Prussia, the Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine and Count Lamsdorff, left Darmstadt earlier today on the Court train and arrived in Wiesbaden at 4:30 p.m., reports the New York Times.

They were met by Kaiser Wilhelm II, dressed in a Russian uniform, where he met with the Paderborn regiment guarding the depot.  He had a conversation with Chancellor von Bulow before greeting the Russian ambassador to Berlin, Count von Osten-Sacken.

When the royal train pulled into the station,  Nicholas II "entered an improvised tent," where Wilhelm II and his suite were already waiting."

The two Emperors "kissed each other affectionately three times."
