Princess Helen: royal nurse

November 15, 1912

Princess Helen, the wife of Prince Nicholas of Greece, a son of King George I, is "performing splendid work at Larissa," reports the Chicago Daily Tribune.  The princess, with the "assistance of several English nurses," has been caring for the thousands of Greek and Turkish casualties who are brought from the front in ox-drawn wagons and are carefully transferred to Red Cross railway carriages."

Princess Helen "has complete control of the railway arrangements," and is often seen on the platform "personally helping in the work of supporting and carrying the patients."
