Princess Aribert plays tourist

Princess Aribert of Anhalt played tourist today in Washington, D.C., according to the New York Times. She viewed the "deliberations of Congress from the Diplomats' Gallery in the Senate, where she spent a short time his afternoon."

 The Princess - the former Princess Marie Louise of Schleswig-Holstein - was accompanied by the British Ambassador Lord Paunceforte and his daughter. The princess also vsiited the Congressional Library, and "took a walk through the fashionable residential quarter" with the the Hon. Sybil Paunceforte.

This evening, Lord and Lady Paunceforte "entertained at dinner" in Marie Louise's honor. The guests included the German and French Ambassadors, the Ambassador's children and other embassy staff.

The Princess "expresses herself much pleased with the capital," and she intends to remain in the United States until June 15, when she will go to Canada by way of Niagara Falls. There are no plans to "call upon" President and Mrs. McKinley, but the Princess will plan to visit Mount Vernon in the next few days.
