April 2, 1898

The "smart set was astonished" by the publication of the princess's allowance, a mere £1600 a year, according to the New York Times. Her husband, Prince Philipp, has a fortune estimated at £,000,000.
The Princess, the eldest daughter of King Leopold II of the Belgians, is living as Mme. Leman, and it said she plans to travel to America to join Donna Elvira de Borbon, daughter of Don Carlos, who has run off with Count Folchi.
