A British bride for Crown Prince Wilhelm?

February 3, 1901

Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany was recently in London to attend the funeral of his great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. He may also have found his future wife as the Kaiser's actions "while in England are said to have pointed" toward marriage between his heir and a British princess. The princess is said to be

Princess Margaret of Connaught, the elder daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught. Although the princess is five months older than the Crown Prince, she is the Kaiser's first cousin. Margaret is said to be "one of the prettiest and most clever" of King Edward's younger relatives. She is, of course, the King's niece.
