The new king of Yugoslavia, 11-year-old Peter, arrived at Sandroyd school only two weeks ago and was adjusting to boarding school life. He was on the soccer field, learning how to play the game when the school received word of the king's violent death.

It was after 5 p.m.,. when the school's headmaster received a phone call from the Yugoslav Legation and was told that the young Crown Prince was now King. When the boys trooped in for afternoon tea, Peter was taken aside by the headmaster, who gently broke the news to him. A special police guard was placed around the school. The new king's plans are not known, but it is expected that he may join his grandmother, Queen Marie of Roumania, who is currently in London and travel with her to France.
