Lord and Lady Louis arrive in US for honeymoon

October 3, 1922

Newlyweds Lord and Lady Louis Mountbatten arrived today in New York on the White Star Liner Majestic. They are on the "second half of their honeymoon," and come to America "to enjoy themselves."
On board the Majestic, "they danced every night and made many friends on the vessel."

Lord Louis and the former Hon. Edwina Ashley, were married at St.Margaret's, Westminster, in London on July 17 in presence of members of the British royal family, including the king and queen.
Lord Louis is the second son of late Prince Louis of Battenberg, who was created the Marquess of Milford Haven in 1917, and Princess Victoria of Hesse and By Rhine, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria.
Lord Louis is related to nearly every royal house in Europe. His sisters, Alice, and Louise, are married to Prince Andrew of Greece and Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden, respectively.
Lady Louis is said to have inherited $50,000,000 from her maternal uncle, Sir Ernest Cassell.
Lord and Lady Louis are expected to remain in the US until November 25. They plan to visit Florida, Niagara Falls and Washington, D.C. During their New York stay, they will be ensconced at the Ritz-Carlton.
