Former Austrian empress Zita has issued a statement today saying that she has not approvced of Archduke Albrecht's marriage to a commoner, Irene Rudnay. Zita said she was acting on behalf of her minor son, Archduke Otto, who is the de jure Austrian emperor, and she stated that Albrecht married without her consent. Zita is the widow of Emperor Karl, who died in 1922. Archduke Albrecht responded by saying that he was concerned only with Hungarian marital laws.
